"Detroit"

3:33 video from approx. Feb, 11, 2015.
Jeb Bush: Hey,
this
morning
I'm
in
Detroit
to
talk to the Detroit Economics Club, but
before that I'm going to have a chance to visit with some young
entrepreneurs that are reshaping Detroit's future by pursuing their own
dreams. Failed liberal policies have made it more and more
difficult for people to rise up here in Detroit and across our
country. Conservative principles, applied the right way, can make
a huge difference. I hope you'll follow me this morning as I meet
some of these entrepreneurs just a few blocks away from here.
Man
talking
to
Bush: We currently have about 350 employees, a lot
based here, mostly Detroit-based out of this building.
Jeb
Bush: Well I know people in Detroit appreciate you.
Man: We appreciate Detroit. The city's embraced the brand, and we're, we feel really lucky to be here.
Man:
So
we
started
with
a
line
way over on the other side, and we had ten
original employees. A lot of them are still in here; some have
moved off into other parts of the company and moved up
Everything's handmade, all right here.
Where do you find people that want to work, people that have history of manufacturing? Detroit was a natural place for us to start.
Bush:
Absolutely.
Bush:
Good
luck.
Man: Thank you so
much. It's a pleasure. Take care.
Bush: Appreciate all
your time.
Man: Thanks man.
Bush
speech
clips:
How
do
we
recapture
the
prosperity
and
opportunity
that
once
defined
cities
like
Detroit?
How
do
we
restore
America’s
faith
in
the
moral
promise
of
our
great
nation
that
any
child
born
today
can
reach
further
than
their
parents?
This
is
a really
urgent
issue:
Far
too
many
Americans
live
on
the
edge
of
economic
ruin.
And
many
more
feel
like
they’re
struck
in
place,
working
longer
and
harder,
even
as
they’re
losing
ground.
If Americans are working harder than ever, earning less than they once did, our government our leaders should step up, offer a plan, fix what’s wrong -- or they should step aside.
In
the
coming
weeks,
I
will
address
this
critical
issue,
and
I
will
offer
a
new
vision,
a
plan
of
action
that
is
different
than
what
we've
been
hearing
in
Washington
D.C.
It's
a
vision
rooted
in
conservative
principles...
So
I
say,
let's
go
where
our
ideas
can
matter
most.
Where
the
failures
of
liberal
government
are
most obvious. Let’s deliver real conservative
success.
And
you
know
what
will
happen?
We’ll
create
a
whole
lot
of
new
conservatives..
This
morning,
320
million
Americans
got
up,
and
they're
on
320
million
different
paths
of
life.
It’s
our
goal
to
see
them
succeed.
And
it’s
our
responsibility
to
do
everything
possible
to
help
them.
Because
their
success,
by
their
success,
they
will
not
only
build
prosperity
for
themselves.
They
will
renew
the
promise
of
this
nation
where
everyone,
has
the right
to rise.
Those
are
the
stakes.
That’s
why
we’re
here.
Please
join
me
in
this
cause.
Thank
you
all
very
much
and
may
God
bless
Detroit,
and
may
God
bless
America.
Bush
speech
clips: I had a fantastic time in Detroit today, learning
about the efforts by a whole lot of people to allow for Detroit to rise
up and renew. That's what Right to Rise is all about. If
you're interested in learning more go to www.RighttoRisePAC.org.
Notes: The video has four
parts:
An intro of
Bush standing on a snowy street talking to the camera with abandoned
houses in the background (approx. 25 sec.);
Bush
visiting an entrepreneur (camera shows sign A. Alfred Taubman Center
for Design Education, camera shows Bush opening the door himself;
inside the camera focuses on sign on door "Shinola - Detroit") (approx.
51
sec.);
Clips of
Bush's speech (approx. 1:47);
Bush wrap up
remarks to camera in hallway (approx. 14 sec.).
Observations: Posted on
Vimeo a week after the event. One would like to see more of Bush
talking to entrepreneurs, maybe visiting a couple of companies, and
offering an incisive question or two; here it's just pleasantries.
