New TV Ad: Trump Pushes Nuclear Launch
Button
Donald Trump launches nuclear missiles while saying “You’re
Fired!” in a new campaign television commercial airing on the Situation
Room with Wolf Blitzer on CNN network Thursday September 15th.
National security veterans from both parties have raised concerns about
the threat posed to by Trump’s impulsivity, especially when it comes to
nuclear weapons.
The 30 second ad shows a hand punching in launch codes, then nervously
hovering over the nuclear launch button contained in the suitcase that
follows the President around. As the hand clenches, unclenches, and
taps nervously, we hear Donald Trump say:
“There’s nobody bigger and better at the military than I am.
“When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families.”
An announcer then says, “When a President has his finger on the nuclear
launch button…”
“I love war,” Trump continues.
“I would bomb the shit out of them.
“I’d like to punch him in the face.”
The announcer then says, “The last thing you need is someone explosive
and irrational like Donald Trump.” We then hear Trump exclaiming
“YOU’RE FIRED” as the hand pushes the blinking red nuclear launch
button – then we see a giant mushroom cloud.
A recent statement signed by 50 former Republican national security
officials said Trump “lacks self-control and acts impetuously…He has
alarmed our closest allies with his erratic behavior. All of these are
dangerous qualities in an individual who aspires to be President and
Commander in Chief, with command of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.”
“Given the truly frightening prospect of a Trump presidency, we created
this ad warning the public about the risk of having his finger on the
nuclear button,” explained Founder and Chairman David Fenton. “Our firm
could make and pay for this ad because of the Supreme Court’s Citizen
United decision. We think that decision should be overturned, as
election voices should come from citizens, not corporations. However,
this is an urgent situation.”
Fenton conceived the ad along with writer and advertising veteran Josh
Gold, who was Creative Director on the spot with the assistance of
production house Ballast.TV.
