Michelle
DeFord: A month after 9-11 I got a call from David and he
told me he was going into the National Guard. He was sent to Iraq
to be a gunner on a HumVee.
A car pulled up in the driveway and three soldiers
got out, and the sound of their boots as they came up those stairs
will, will stay with me the rest of my life.
You have moments when you really don't want to
live anymore. It's a fate I would not wish on anybody, not
anybody.
When I saw Donald Trump attack another Gold Star
mother, I felt such a sense of outrage...

she had nothing to say, she probably...
Michelle
DeFord: I would like to tell Donald
Trump what it feels like. The sense of emptiness that only losing
a child can bring.
People should be honored and treated with kindness
for the rest of their life, and I don't think that Donald Trump wlll
ever understand that.

Priorities USA & VoteVets PAC are releasing a new television ad
today titled “Michelle” featuring Michelle DeFord, a Gold Star mother
whose son David served in the military and was killed in Iraq in 2004.
In the ad, Michelle talks about the pain she felt the day soldiers came
to their house to tell her what happened: “the sound of their boots as
they came up those stairs will stay with me the rest of my life. You
have moments when you really don’t want to live anymore, it’s a fate I
would not wish on anybody. Not anybody.”
After Donald Trump’s recent repeated attacks on the Khan family, whose
son also died in Iraq in 2004, Michelle was outraged: “When I saw
Donald Trump attack another Gold Star mother I felt such a sense of
outrage…I would like to tell Donald Trump what it feels like, the sense
of emptiness that only losing a child can bring. Those people should be
honored and treated with kindness for the rest of their life, and I
don’t think that Donald Trump will ever understand that.”
“Gold Star
families like Michelle’s make an incredible sacrifice for our country
and they deserve nothing less than our utmost respect and kindness. As
Michelle says, it’s clear from Donald Trump’s outrageous attack on Gold
Star families last week that he will never understand that,” said Guy
Cecil, Chief Strategist at Priorities USA. “Donald Trump’s total lack
of respect for the Khan family represents a new low in his already
dangerous and divisive campaign and proves once more just how unfit he
is to be President of the United States.”
“Donald Trump has still not apologized to the Khans, and still hasn’t
shown any remorse for his hurtful comments,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War
Veteran, and Chairman of VoteVets PAC. “That is not acceptable. Trump,
and others, may just want to let this issue go and move on, but we will
not. On behalf of Gold Star mothers like Michelle, we cannot.”
“Michelle” will run statewide in OH, FL, NC, IA, NV, NH, CO, PA, &
nationally on MSNBC, CNN, & FOX.
