Today, Priorities USA is launching a new TV ad called “Smart,”
featuring Marly Hittepole, an Ohio woman who after hearing Donald
Trump brag
that paying no federal income taxes made him “smart,” felt like she
“was being called stupid.” Mary argues that
“we have schools that need money and roads that need to be fixes and
veterans that need help…I want a president who’s proud of our country,
not a president
who’s proud of getting out of paying taxes.”
A
bombshell
report in the New York Times Saturday night revealed
“Donald J. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax
returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to
legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years.”
“Donald Trump
paid no federal income taxes for nearly two decades and bragged that
doing so
‘makes [him] smart,’ but hard working people like Marly know what he
really meant is everyone else who does pay taxes is stupid, and that
he’s better than them. That’s not presidential,” said Justin
Barasky, Communications Director
at Priorities USA. “Americans deserve a president
who is proud of their country, not as Marly says, ‘a president who’s
proud of getting out of paying taxes,’ and that’s the kind of guy
Donald Trump is; someone who thinks everyone who pays taxes to support
our veterans, education, and infrastructure is stupid.”
“Smart”
will run OH, PA, NC, FL, NV, IA, NH, & CO.
