served until 2008 when term-limited out; elected to the Montana
House of Representatives in 1988 and served until 1997. Practices
timber harvest on his ranch; moved to Montana in 1974 and did ranching
and farming. Degree in behavioral physiology from San
Francisco State College in 1969. Pennsylvania native.

(Dec. 2010) Came to the party from position as political director of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Health Care Northwest-Montana. Headed the Montana Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee in 2004. Bachelor's degree in political science and history from Central Washington University. Iowa native.
