Boston, MA –Mitt Romney today earned the support of influential California elected officials.

“I am proud to have the support of so many elected officials from California,” said Mitt Romney. “I look forward to working with them during my campaign to promote job growth and reverse President Obama’s failed policies.”   

Announcing his support, Congressman Buck McKeon, Chairman of the House Armed Services, said, “President Obama’s policies have failed California and the country. Mitt Romney has a proven record of job creation in both the private sector and as a governor.”

“Mitt Romney’s record as governor speaks for itself,” said State Senate Republican Leader Bob Dutton. “He created jobs, balanced budgets, and cut taxes. Mitt Romney knows how the economy works and he has the much-needed experience to lead the country out of the economic downturn.”

Background On California Elected Officials Endorsing Mitt Romney:

Congressman Buck McKeon Was First Elected In 1992. McKeon is the current chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Before his election to Congress, McKeon served on the Santa Clarita city council and also served as Santa Clarita’s first mayor.

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack Was Elected In 1998. Bono Mack serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and is the Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. In this role, Bono Mack is focused on job creation and investment in America.

State Senate Republican Leader Bob Dutton Was First Elected To The State Senate In 2004. Dutton was elected Republican Leader of the State Senate in 2010. In addition to his duties in the Senate, Dutton is the CEO of Dutton & Associates, Inc, a real estate investment and management firm.

State Senator Tony Strickland Has Served In The Senate Since 2008. Prior to his election to the State Senate, Strickland was a State Assemblyman for six years. Strickland has focused on job creation and earned a reputation as a taxpayer advocate. He is also Vice President of GreenWave Energy Solutions LLC.

State Senator Sharon Runner Was Elected In 2011. Runner served in the State Assembly before her election. During her time in both the State Senate and Assembly, Runner has focused on education and children’s issues.

State Senator Bob Huff Serves As The Republican Caucus Chairman. Huff served in the Assembly from 2004 to 2008 and was on the Diamond Bar city council from 1995 to 2004. Huff also served as Mayor of Diamond Bar from 1997 to 2001. In the State Senate, Huff has been a strong advocate for education reform.

State Senator Sam Blakeslee Was Elected To The State Senate In 2010. Before his election, Blakeslee served in the State Assembly from 2004 to 2010. Blakeslee serves as the Chairman of the Select Committee on Recovery, Reform and Realignment, a Senate think tank designed to spur job creation and fix budget problems.

State Senator Mark Wyland Was Elected In 2010. Wyland serves on the Appropriations, Business, Professions and Economic Development and Governmental Organization Committees. Wyland is focused on legislation to create jobs and grow the economy.

Assemblyman Paul Cook Was Elected In 2006. He previously served on the Yucca Valley Town Council. Cook serves as the Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee and also serves on the Governmental Organization Committee and the Accountability and Administrative Review Committee.

Assemblyman Jim Silva Was Elected In 2006. Silva also served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors and was Mayor of Huntington Beach. Silva was a high school economics teacher for twenty-eight years.
