Bachmann for President

"Michele Bachmann: A Leader with Midwestern Roots" +
  3:24 web video from Aug. 13, 2011.

[Music] Male Announcer: Our American heartland.  A place where life and liberty is celebrated, hard work and sacrifice is rewarded, and God's good grace is accepted as a loving gift.

Six generations ago a hard-working Norwegian family settled in Northeast Iowa to begin a new life.  Their legacy continues today.

Born in April 1956, Michele Marie lived and learned the lessons of her pioneer ancestors.  Work hard and overcome every obstacle.  Her name is Michele Bachmann.

Bachmann: It was a very simple life because we didn't have a lot of money; we lived you know kind of on the wrong side of tracks in town, but there was a standard of living that we followed.  Being honest, being truthful, doing what you say you're going to do.  Pretty all-American.

I started out in Waterloo at Hawthorne Elementary.  We had this old, old two-story we were living in.  My parents rented out the second floor to get rent money.

I felt very grounded growing up, and secure.  What I remember is we were happy.

Male Announcer: Anchored in faith and moved by responsibility Michele helped provide for their family.  Even in those tough days she never lost sight of her dreams.

Bachmann: My mother told me that I should become a secretary because she saw that that was a secure job.  I wanted to go to college.

Male Announcer: Michele worked her way through college, met her husband Marcus, and started a family.  She went on to earn a degree in tax law from the prestigious College of William and Mary, and served as a tax attorney for the United States government.  Michele and Marcus were blessed with five children, and decided to become foster parents.  Over the years they would open their arms to 23 children who needed a loving home.  Frustrated by the education her children were receiving, Michele led a statewide effort that successfully reformed education in Minnesota.

Bachmann: I knew that everything would change in our society if we didn't get education right.  And I was so highly motivated that I really believed you could change city hall.

Male Announcer: Chosen by her neighbors to serve in the state legislature, Michele quickly earned a reputation as a tireless conservative leader who got things done.  In 2006 she was the first Republican woman elected to the United States Congress from Minnesota.  Michele Bachmann stood up to Nancy Pelosi's liberal politics, opposed bailouts and wasteful stimulus measures, and always stands on principle.  This leader from America's heartland believes in our God-given liberty, fights for our freedom as guaranteed by the Constitution, believes we can restore American prosperity, and has faith that we can overcome any obstacle because we always have.  Michele Bachmann for President.

Notes: This very professional video introduced Rep. Bachmann at the Straw Poll.  The video has lots of beautiful stock imagery and includes numerous family photos throughout.
