Newt 2012

"Right to Choose Personal Social Security Accounts" +
  1:21 web video from Nov. 9, 2011.

[Music] Gingrich:  I'm Newt Gingrich and I want to ask you to join in the effort to give every young American a better Social Security future.  You see if you're allowed to have the choice of a personal Social Security savings account, you have some big advantages.

You control the money; the politicians don't.  It builds up interest all your lifetime so by the time you finally retire you have a lot more money in your account, and the evidence from Galveston, Texas and from Chile where they've had this kind of program is that for about half as much money you get more than twice as much in retirement savings.  Finally, if you're saving it and you're controlling it, if something does happen to you it goes into your estate to your family and your loved ones, something which does not happen today.

So I believe there's a real opportunity here to build a system where younger Americans have the right to choose a personal Social Security savings account, and I hope you'll go to Newt.org, my first name, and you'll sign up to help make sure that every young American has the choice of keeping the money in an account that they control where no politician can bother them.

Thank you all very much, and I hope you'll join me at Newt.org.

Notes: A solid issue focus.  Production-wise the video is rather underexposed.
