Jon Huntsman for President
"Pretzel Candidate" +
1:00 web video from Nov. 3, 2011.
Andrea Mitchell: George Will’s column on Sunday, which just eviscerated Mitt Romney.
Carol Costello: Compared Romney to Michael Dukakis.
Mitchell: A straddle is not a political philosophy. It is what you do when you do not have one.
Romney: 12 million are still here illegally, should be able to sign up for permanent residency or citizenship.
Romney: We can’t talk about amnesty; we cannot give amnesty to those who have come here illegally.
Romney: I don’t think I’ve ever hired an illegal in my life.
Romney: We hired a lawn company to mow our lawn and they had illegal immigrants that were working there.
Romney: I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years that we should sustain and support it.
Romney: I’m in favor of having the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.
Carol Cameron: Mitt Romney doggedly refused to take a position.
Joe Johns: Romney gave the generic almost non-committal answer.
Costello: He might actually damage Republican chances of winning the Senate.
Peter Hamby: Intentionally tried to dodge them to kind of protect his brand.
Brit Hume: You’re only allowed a certain number of flips before people begin to doubt your character.
Romney: I’m sorry
if I created any confusion in that regard.
Notes: This is the third
straight Huntsman video attacking Romney. According to the press
release, the video "showcases Mitt Romney's stunning lack of conviction
on
major issues facing our country and his willingness to say almost
anything to get elected." Further..
“As George Will rightly identified, Mitt Romney's lack of
conviction is
not only unpresidential, but would hurt GOP chances in the Fall," said
Tim Miller. "The next leader of the free world will need to demonstrate
clear leadership and established convictions – Mitt Romney has proven
that he is not that leader. Mitt has spent his entire political career
leading from behind, much like the White House is doing right now. Jon
Huntsman doesn’t need an opinion poll or a 24 hour news cycle to
determine where he stands on the issues because he has a core set of
beliefs, not a finger in the wind.”
