"Meet Alex: A Dad and a Summer Organizer" +
  2:04 web video from June 19, 2011.

[Music] Alex: I'd like my kids to grow up in a country and a world where we identify the problems and we focus on solutions.  I hope my kids grow up with a sense of responsibility, not only for themselves but for those around them, which I would hope would translate into their country.

My name is Alex and I'm a summer organizer, I'm a husband and I'm a father of four beautiful children.

I'd wanted to volunteer to be a summer organizer because I felt like it was my time to get involved.

[Knocking on door] Hi guys, how's it going?

I was sick of sitting around doing nothing and decided that I need to support the President and help him get re-elected.

It's exciting to be with people who have dedicated their summer to organizing their community.  I think that the summer organizers play a vital role in starting to rebuild and fire up the campaign and then setting up one-on-one meetings with people.  I've been making phone calls to get their input so that the campaign can start to build momentum and be as effective as possible.

One of the things about being a summer organizer for me is the impact it will have on my kids and the awareness that will give my children.  For many years I didn't think one person could make a difference.  I've heard one person can make a difference, but I didn't really grasp the concept of what one person can make a difference meant on a large scale.  One of the things I'd like my kids to learn from me as a father is that they can make a difference in other people's lives, and it will help them to know that they can do anything that they want to do.

Notes: The campaign focuses on a grassroots supporter in this video posted on Father's Day.
