Romney for President

"Growing Up" +
:30 ad run starting Feb. 14, 2012 in MI.

[Music] Romney: Now when I grew up in Michigan it was exciting to be here.  Remember going to the Detroit Auto Show with my dad.  That was a big deal.

How in the world did an industry and its leaders and its unions get in such a fix that they lost jobs, that they lost their future?

President Obama did all these things that liberals have wanted to do for years.  The fact that you’ve got millions of Americans out of work, home values collapsing, people here in Detroit are distressed.

I want to make Michigan stronger and better.  Michigan has been my home and this is personal.

Romney: I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message.

Notes: Michigan, seen as almost a Romney home state, was expected to be a walk-away win for him, but has recently become very competitive.

Several days after the release of this ad, on Feb. 17, American Bridge 21st Century released a video spoof done in the style of VH1's  "Pop Up Video" series; according to the group the video showed "the many errors, falsehoods and contradictions in Romney's Michigan ad 'Growing Up.'"
