Various news announcers:
For the fifth straight month the U.S. economy lost jobs, 324,000 so far
this year...
The meltdown in the mortgage industry...
This is the biggest point drop that has ever been seen in a day...
The worst financial collapse since the Great Depression...
This is cataclysmic...
American workers were laid off in numbers not seen in three
decades...
Whoever wins in November is going to come into office in
January facing a deep recession, facing trillions of new liabilities...
This is a once in a half century, probably once in a
century type of event.
TEXT: 4,400,000 jobs lost
TEXT: 2009 January Inauguration Day
Obama (clip
from Inauguration speech): Today I say to you that the
challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many.
They will not be met easily or in a short span of time, but know this
America, they will be met.
Male Announcer:
On the day Barack Obama took office,
America had already lost 4.4 million jobs. An economic
disaster—the worst in a generation. Some said America's best
days were behind us. But like America he dug deep, fought back
and never lost faith in our ability to meet the challenge.
The president's stimulus plan...
Notes: The first 37 seconds
or so set the stage, emphasizing how difficult times were when Obama
took office. The bulk of the video focuses on accomplishments and
"real results," then comes a bit on Republican obstructionism, followed
by a section highlighting Obama's role as commander in chief, including
the killing of Osama bin Laden and ending the war in Iraq.
Next text of accomplishments were slid on the screen. The close
included clips of Obama speaking.
From the press
release...
The video outlines the challenges
America faced as President Obama took office at the height of the worst
recession in almost a century and details the progress that has been
made reclaiming the security of the
middle class and building an economy that's meant to last, where hard
work pays and responsibility is rewarded.
This video, which will serve as an important grassroots organizing tool through the course of the general election, will be played live during the President's first campaign rallies next Saturday in Ohio and Virginia.
