"Canvassing in Ohio: A Typical Day for a Canvasser"" +
  2:29 web video from May 8, 2012.

Female voice (Ashley Allison): Ohio is so important to this election because no Republican candidate has ever won the presidency without winning Ohio.

We have to go to the doors, we have to talk to our neighbors, we have to persuade voters or we will not win this election.

Greg Schultz, State Director: We're here today to canvass the local neighborhood.  We're going to have neighbors talk to neighbors about the importance of this election.

Taylor, Volunteer: It's my first time canvassing for President Obama.

Sharon, Volunteer: I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited.

Ashley Allison, Regional Field Director: For people who are intimidated about canvassaing, I just always say give it a shot.  Canvassing is an opportunity for volunteers to go and knock on the doors of their neighbors and have face to face interaction to talk to them about issues that are important to them.  Volunteers can expect to build the community that they live in and work with like-minded people that share the same values that they share and that the president shares.

A typical day for a canvasser, we partner you up with an experienced canvasser if it's your first time...

Nat. sound: And we'll put it under the rug or in the door...

Ashley Allison: We give you your walk packets and we go over so you know where you're canvassing...

Nat. sound: And the near East district has Wards 5, 7 and 55...

Ashley Allison: And then we send you out to hit the doors....

Joan, Volunteer: I'm feeling very excited because I know that Obama needs to carry the state of Ohio, and I want to make it happen for him.

Nat. sound: Yes, I'm ready to go.  Let's go and get 'em...

Taylor: I think canvassing is a great way to educate and spread knowledge.

Nat. sound: Well are you guys supporters of the president?

Bronson, Volunteer: Rain or shine, go out an provide that information so they can make an informed choice.

Greg Schultz (audio): When a neighbor goes to a neighbor's house and they talk from the heart about why they're involved, it really puts a face on that campaign...

Nat. sound: We're going around trying to see if people are going to support the president here in this upcoming election.

Female Voice: Ultimately that one vote could change the outcome of the election.

Nat. sound: Really excited to have you on board.  Great. Thanks.

Taylor: It was a great experience.  I'm so happy I was able to do it.

Joan: I'm so grateful that I was able to persuade at least one person.

Greg Schultz: We really believe that if you respect and empower and include volunteers at the local level they will make sure that we win this election here in Ohio and across this country.

Joan: Ohio makes all the difference in him getting elected.

Taylor: We need every last person to go to the polls to vote, to encourage your neighbor to vote.

Ashley Allison: Come on Ohio, come out and canvass.  It's a great way to meet your neighbors and help re-elect the president.
