Obama for America

"Greater Together HBCU Launch in Durham, North Carolina" +
  2:12 web video from June 6, 2012.

[Music]  Man: We drove almost an hour and 45 minutes so we're really excited to be here.

Gabrielle Union, actress: The media's been saying that young people are apathetic, that they don't care.  I didn't really see that with the line that went all the way out the door.

So this being the first stop on the Greater Together tour, we showed them how it will be done tonight.  Fired up.

Man: We are here to unite behind President Barack Obama to form a team so therefore he can be re-elected as president again.

Greg Jackson, OFA field director for North Carolina: This is your chance to start to speak out and really be a part of a greater community of voices.  All across the country, 105 HBCUs are participating today in tweeting alongside you, putting out those questions, putting out those concerns, and putting out those ideas.

Valerie Jarrett, senior Democratic strategist: When I left Washington this morning, I said to the president what message would you like for me to deliver to these young people.  And he wanted me to remind you that every single day he comes to the White House, he comes to his office with you in mind.

Woman: When Obama did come into office, like I was young, I was only like 17 and I really didn't know much about it.  I'm older now, have a better understanding of things that are going on and it's different for me to be like actually involved in it.  Like I feel like an adult.

Jim Messina, campaign manager, Obama for America: The president stood up at one point and said, every single one of you know that health care's the right thing to do, but you're scared.  We're not going to be scared any more; we're going to pass health care.

Rep. G.K. Butterfield, D-North Carolina, 1st District: We cannot have 50 million people in America without health insurance.  That is unacceptable in a country such as ours.  [applause]

[Music up tempo] Gabrielle Union, actress: I want to encourage all of you guys to get energized, to stay energized, to have these conversations in your dorms, in your apartments with your families, with your friends.  Get on Twitter, get on Facebook.

Greg Jackson, OFA field director for North Carolina: We have to follow through.  And I believe that on November 6th 2012 we will prove to the world again that we are greater together.  [applause]

Man (wearing Obama 44 shirt): Four years for the first term, four years for the second term.
