Veteran Leadership Team Named For Charlotte In 2012 Host Committee
Torre Jessup, Dockery Clark, Mary Tribble Join Others To Showcase Region

CHARLOTTE, June 1, 2011 —Dan Murrey, executive director of the Charlotte In 2012 Host Committee, today announced members of the Host Committee leadership team for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

“I’m excited to announce an extremely talented team that includes both extensive experience organizing major national events and a deep understanding of the Charlotte region,” said Murrey. “Over the next 15 months, we all share the commitment to create an unforgettable, inclusive and interactive experience that will showcase our region to visitors from throughout the world.”

Team members include:

Torre Jessup, deputy executive director of external relations, has been a leader in Congressman Mel Watt’s Charlotte office for 16 years, most recently as district director.

Dockery Clark, chief of staff, is a veteran brand marketer and manager who has developed and implemented business strategies for Fortune 50 master brands, a portfolio of consumer package goods brands and virtually every major sports entity involved in sponsorships.

Mary Tribble, chief of event planning, managed many of Charlotte’s most significant events over the last 25 years, including the NBA All-Star Game and Final Four celebrations.

Melissa Schwartz, finance director, was a key regional finance director for the last two Democratic presidential campaigns and brings extensive fundraising experience with a broad cross-section of donors nationwide.

Leah Chandler, deputy finance director, has served as a key fundraiser for two U.S. Senate campaigns and as Midwest Finance Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Bobby Martin, chief financial officer, has 41 years of accounting experience in Charlotte, specializing in auditing nonprofit organizations.

Joe Sandler, legal counsel, served as general counsel for the Democratic National Committee for 15 years and has been general or outside counsel for every Democratic national convention since 1996.

The Charlotte In 2012 Host Committee team will coordinate closely with the 2012 Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) senior leadership team that was named last month by Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
