Democratic National Convention Committee Seeks Company to Design Website

Seeking companies to provide services for DemConvention.com to give Americans more ways to connect and engage with the convention

CHARLOTTE – The Democratic National Convention Committee today issued a request for proposal for a website services vendor to design and host a new website for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.  The proposal can be found at the DNCC website, www.demconvention.com.

“Using digital media, including an innovative website, we will allow more Americans than ever before to participate in the convention, making this the most open and accessible convention in history,” said DNCC CEO Steve Kerrigan.  “Through this website, and other social media, we can engage Americans in a conversation about how we can strengthen the country in a way that creates more opportunity for all.”

The online presence of the DNCC will also support information sharing and other logistical communications with approximately 6,000 delegates, an expected 15,000 members of the media, thousands of other convention guests, and the general public.

The websites services vendor will be responsible for providing web design, development and production services, including website hosting and security.  The deadline to submit bids is March 20, 2012.

The DNCC has previously awarded contracts for construction management, event architect, event and exposition services, and housing services provider.  It has also issued an RFP for transportation services and an RFQ for secure printing company to print credentials.

The DNCC will evaluate the proposals based on numerous criteria, including, but not limited to: experience, reliability, relationships to Charlotte, North Carolina, and the surrounding region, participation of union labor, women, minorities and persons with disabilities, and innovative proposed solutions.

The request for proposal is just one step in the DNCC’s outreach to local businesses.  On Sept. 1, the DNCC and Committee for Charlotte 2012 announced the publication of an online vendor directory that will allow vendors to search for local businesses for their convention-related needs.  The vendor directory can be found at www.charlottein2012.com.
