Democratic National
Convention Committee Announces Press Relations Team
CHARLOTTE – The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today
announced the completion of the Press Relations department for the 2012
Democratic National Convention. The Press Relations team will
serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries leading
up to and during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte,
September 4- 6.
“With years of combined experience on Capitol Hill, democratic
campaigns, national party committees and the private sector, our Press
Relations team has the skills and know-how to manage the anticipated
15,000 media representatives planning to come to Charlotte to cover the
convention,” said Kristie Greco, DNCC Chief Communications Officer.

Kristie joined the convention team in June 2011 and oversees all
communications aspects for the 2012 Democratic National
Convention. She has 13 years of communications and political
experience including service in the office of the Assistant Democratic
Leader, James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.), the number three Democrat in the
House of Representatives. She also served in Clyburn’s Majority
Whip and Democratic Caucus offices, as well as the offices of Reps. Tim
Holden (D-Pa.) and Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.). A Capitol Hill
veteran, Kristie has advised frontline congressional campaigns in New
Mexico, Ohio and Virginia as well as the Charlotte field office for the
Obama campaign running up to the 2008 election.
Alex
Glass, Director of Press Relations
Alex joins the convention staff with extensive experience in political
communications. Alex worked for U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA)
for over ten years, serving as her long time Communications Director
and advisor. Alex also served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Murray’s
re-election campaign in 2010. In addition to work on numerous
political campaigns, Alex worked as Deputy Press Director and
Spokesperson for the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Alex got her first exposure to national political conventions in 2000
as a surrogate booker with the Gore/Lieberman presidential
campaign.
Joanne
Peters, Press Secretary
Joanne has served as the convention Press Secretary since July
2011. Prior to joining the convention team, Joanne served as a
Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic National Committee during
the 2010 cycle and prior to that spent five years on Capitol Hill as
the Press Secretary for Reps. Joe Baca (CA) and Bob Etheridge (NC). She
was also the Deputy Director of Surrogate Booking at the DNC for the
2008 election. Joanne is from Charlotte, and is a graduate of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ryan
Daniels, Samuel Lau, Jasmine Mora, Deputy Press Secretaries
Ryan most recently worked as a
Senior Account Executive at Edelman Public Relations on the Energy and
Transportation team. Prior to joining Edelman, Ryan was a Press
Assistant for Representative James E. Clyburn. Ryan is from
Gaithersburg, Md., and is a graduate of North Carolina State
University.
Sam is a native of East
Brunswick, NJ, and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to
joining the convention, Sam served as Deputy Press Secretary for U.S.
Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC).
Jasmine most recently worked
for Rep. Xavier Becerra’s leadership office, helping House Democrats on
constituency outreach and Hispanic press. She is from Los
Angeles, California and a graduate of U.C. Berkeley.
Lisa Paul,
Press Relations Assistant, and Richard Ruffner, Assistant to the Chief
Communications Officer
Lisa was a communications intern at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign
Committee prior to her role in Charlotte, and holds a master’s degree
from Northwestern University.
Richard is a recent graduate of Davidson College and served as a
communications intern at the DNCC during his senior year.
