IFFC Announces Presidential Candidate Forum

DES MOINES, IA - Plans are being made for the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Fall Event, which will be a 2012 Presidential Candidate Forum featuring all the qualified candidates seeking nomination of their political party for the office of the President of USA in 2012 general elections.  The Iowa Energy Forum will sponsor the event, set for Saturday, October 22, 2011.  All Presidential candidates who meet the following criteria on or before October 1, 2011 are eligible to participate:

1. Registered with the Federal Elections Commission a presidential exploratory committee or presidential campaign;
2. Met all U.S. constitutional requirements; and
3. Garnered at least an average of one (1) percent in all of the most recent polls from:
Rasmussen Reports, Mason-Dixon, and the Des Moines Register.

As of today, we have confirmations from Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.

Typically over 1,000 political activists attend the IFFC’s annual events.  These activists not only participate and vote in their caucuses but also have substantial influence on other caucus attendees in their neighborhoods and within their networks.

On March 7, 2011, IFFC held a meet and greet event with potential Republican Presidential candidates that was attended by an overflow crowd of over 1,500 political activists.

Steve Scheffler, president of the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition, stated that it is important for the candidates to recognize that IFFC events present the greatest opportunity for candidates to reach out and convey their message to political activists who will make a difference on the caucus day.

In addition to the Presidential Candidates, other elected officials, including the Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus will also be attending the event.

The event is set to take place at the Knapp Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds with check-in starting at 4:30 P.M., a reception/dinner starting at 5:00 PM and the program from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
