March 24, 2012 Louisiana Primary

"SANTORUM CLINCHES LOUISIANA PRIMARY" - The Times-Picayune

"Santorum takes Louisiana primary" - The Sunday Advertiser [Lafayette]

"Santorum wins state, swamps Romney" - The Advocate [Baton Rouge]

Speeches and StatementsSantorum  |  Romney  |  Gingrich  ||  Republicans  |  Democrats

All four candidates campaigned in the Bayou state.  Santorum was favored going into this primary, needed to win after recent setbacks in Puerto Rico and Illinois, and did win, handily.  The outcome marked another unremarkable showing for Romney in the South, and a severe setback for Gingrich, who made a considerable effort here.  Twenty of the state's 46 delegates were at stake.
