RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Statement on the Wisconsin Primary Election

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement regarding the results of the Wisconsin primary:

“I want to congratulate Governor Mitt Romney on his victory tonight in my home state of Wisconsin. I also applaud all of our candidates for their tireless efforts to make Barack Obama a one-term president,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

“Today, Wisconsinites went to the polls to cast their first votes against President Obama’s reckless tax-and-spend policies. Badger State voters are ready for a new direction. We cannot afford four more years of Obamanomics and ObamaCare, of record debt and skyrocketing gas prices.

“Wisconsin understands the dangers of big government policies. We were forced to endure them for years at the hands of Democrats in Madison. That’s why in 2010 voters elected a slate of Republicans to make state government efficient, effective and responsive to the needs of the people. Less than two years later, they have done exactly that.

“Now, Wisconsin stands ready to bring a new direction to Washington as well by putting a Republican in the White House. With the GOP’s strong and sophisticated ground game, our state is poised to deliver a victory to Republicans not only in the June recall election but also in the November presidential election.”

Chairman Statement on the Presidential Primary Results

[MADISON, WI]- Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Brad Courtney released the following statement regarding the results of last night’s Republican presidential primary in Wisconsin:

“Yesterday, Wisconsin Republicans went to the polls in record numbers and yielded a 75% increase in turnout from 2008, and our highest turnout in a presidential primary since 1980. The President, on the other hand, clearly is not motivating his base given that democrat turnout yesterday was the lowest since 1980, even lower than President Clinton in 1996. This is a clear indication that Wisconsin Republicans are motivated to continue moving our state forward under the leadership of Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Kleefisch, and are ready to support our presidential nominee's efforts to turn our country around from President Obama's failed policies and flawed leadership.

“I would like to thank all of our Republican presidential candidates for spending time here in Wisconsin and offer sincere congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney for his victory. As the primary process continues, we look forward to the opportunity of working with our eventual nominee in defeating Barack Obama this November."
