Leadership PACs and Other Vehicles

During 2009-10, presidential hopefuls work to build support by appearing at fundraising events for candidates and party committees, making direct contributions to candidates and party committees, campaigning with candidates, and making endorsements. Many potential candidates form leadership PACs to pursue these activities (PAC finances). Other organizational vehicles include Section 527 organizations, 501(c)(4)'s, and media sites. Here are political, issue and media sites of potential 2012 Republican candidates.

The Johnson, Pataki, Paul groups are 501(c)(4)s. Gingrich's American Solutions is a 527.

Keep in mind that websites are only one facet of a digital presence.  The organization L2 ("a think tank for digital innovation") has developed the notion of digital competence as quantified by a Digital IQ Index® which includes the web site (40%), digital marketing (30%), social media (20%) and mobile (10%). Sarah Palin's communications are done through her Facebook page; the PAC page is little more than a placeholder.
