Notes: Keep in mind that due to the slow start of the campaign most of the candidates were not in fundraising for the full 2nd Quarter.  Many were in exploratory mode until May.

The Gingrich campaign enters the 3rd Quarter in the worst financial shape of any of the campaigns.  Many of his consultants left en masse, but they managed to burn through $1.8 million and left over $1 million in debts.

Although former Gov. Jon Huntsman announced on June 21, he didn't file his Statement of Organization with the FEC until July 6 and so was not required to file a 2nd Quarter report (the campaign said it had receipts of $4.1 million, less than half of which came from Huntsman himself).

The Romney campaign enters the 3rd Quarter with a healthy $12.7 million in cash on hand, much more than any of the other Republicans.  There were reports that in the pre-campaign period, the campaign had expected to raise significantly more.  (See Jonathan Martin. "Mitt Romney's initial fundraising goal: $50 million."  Politico, July 6, 2011).  Romney's big event was a call day fundraiser in Las Vegas on May 16, 2011. (+

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter didn't even announce until  after the 2nd Quarter was over on July 2.
