Overview:  Former Gov. Jon Huntsman announced his withdrawal from the race earlier in the day, reducing the number of candidates on stage to five.  (In the first televised debate more than eight months ago, also in South Carolina, five candidates appeared on stage.  The candidates on stage in Myrtle Beach were a very different group from the May 2011 debate; only Paul and Santorum participated in both).

1. Analysis by Wes Hemings' website "Dawn of the Weak" of candidate talking time during the debate found of a total candidates talking time of 1:11:29. Romney led with 21:59 (30.76%) followed by Santorum 14:13 (19.90%), Gingrich 13:28 (18.85%), Paul 12:13 (17.11%) and Perry 9.33 (13.37%).
