"DraftCain.org is not affiliated with Herman Cain, HITM (Hermanator’s Intelligent Thinkers Movement), WSB radio or any other entity or political candidate. About DraftCain.org

Business leader, commentator, talk show host, and candidate for President? It's time for the 'The Hermanator' in Washington.

America bought "Hope and Change" in 2008 only to be served more irresponsible big government spending which we will be paying for generations to come.  It is time that America has a leader that is bold and determined to reign in the excesses of previous administrations.  We believe Herman Cain is that leader!   With his savvy business experience, life experiences and his ability to harness people, Cain has the ability to advance the common sense reforms that are desperately needed in this country. DraftCain.org is designed to develop teams of volunteers to build a grassroots base, supporting Herman Cain and encouraging his potential run for the presidency.  To participate in this grassroots effort, simply Join the Draft Cain Network.  This unique network uses Face Book  as its network platform.  You will need to obtain a user ID to participate.

Ed. Notes

In response to an e-mail, Maurice Atkinson provided the following observations (3/14 e-mail):

I launched DraftCain.org in late April 2010.  The purpose was simply to identify supporters and potential supporters to build a grassroots network nationally, but focus on the early states.  We’ve spent literally thousands of hours developing graphics, adding and removing content and driving folks into our various FB groups.

What worked:  Keeping it simple.  What I’ve seen in many campaigns is glitz and glamour in websites, many end up confusing people and are rarely used.  Ours is simply to provide a direction into FB.

What hasn’t worked:  At the onset I included several social media sites (MySpace, Windows Live, FB, Twitter and YouTube).  MySpace and Windows Live didn’t work.  Windows was too complicated, people don’t want to learn a new process.  I actually wanted to do it full blown windows, because Windows provides some outstanding tools for people to use their own ingenuity (moviemaker, Live Writer, Blog, Sky Drive and Mesh) but few people use them and most don’t have the time to learn them or want to invest the time.  MySpace just doesn’t have the market share.

I’ve been involved with politics for more than 30 years.  I’ve been involved with numerous statewide campaigns in Indiana and Georgia (IN- Steve Goldsmith for Gov., George Witwer for Gov., Sen. Richard Lugar, Rep. Steve Buyer, Indiana Christian Coalition, GA- Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, Gov. Nathan Deal, Sec. of State Karen Handel, Herman Cain for U.S. Senate and a host of statehouse races).  I’ve served as a state committeeman in Georgia for 4 years and as a local county officer for as many.

I started DraftCain.org because of my friendship with Herman.  I know him fairly well.  He, in my opinion, has all the credentials for serving.  He has a heart of gold and a spine of steel.  He will outwork any candidate.  I’ve never seen a work ethic like Herman possesses.  When he embarks on a course of action, he finishes.  Most rely on operatives, consultants and media, Herman engages people.  Americans want to believe in their leaders and in America again.  I see in Herman Cain a rare gem that our Country needs.

There is little respect for our history and our institutions.  Only a person with vision and the skill to inspire folks to believe in themselves and this country can get us back on track.

>Maurice Atkinson's bio also notes that he has been an insurance agent for 25 years, and he and his wife own a small business, the Hello Gorgeous! Salon in Macon.  Also of note in terms of campaign activity, in 2008 he served as the 8th Congressional District Co-Chairman for Mike Huckabee for President (Huckabee won 14 of 20 Counties, including Bibb County in February's Presidential Preference Primary).

>The "Get Involved!" section is pretty well done, and has activities from downloading PDF of Cain's bio to purchasing "Cain Gear at our Zazzle Store."
