Newt 2012

Flyer (front), Feb. 2012, CPAC.
The back had the day's schedule; there was a different flyer for each day of the conference.

Welcome to CPAC!

I am glad you could take time to participate in one of the largest annual gatherings of conservatives in America.  I have had the privilege of attending and speaking at CPAC since the 1980s and am happy to join the ACU for another successful conference.  Every year, more and more activists gather to share successes from the past year and strengthen the conservative movement for the year to come.

The election facing us this fall is the most important of our lifetime.  We cannot afford another 4 years of Barack Obama's divisive policies.  Runaway courts, union thugs, and socialistic occupiers have been able to treat America as their playground under Obama's watch.

Even now, Obama is trampling upon our most fundamental right, religious liberty.  The grave ramifications of Obamacare have become abundantly clear; religion is no longer free from the heavy hand of government.

There is hope.  Activists like yourself showed Washington and media elites alike that the American people will not sit quietly as the America we love withers away.  We won historic victories in the 2010 elections, stopping the Democrat's tyrannical power grab.  Now is our opportunity to show the world what a truly American recovery looks like.

The Reagan playbook for an economic recovery is simple: lower and simpler taxes, less and cost-conscious regulation , and an American energy plan.  We passed these bold reforms when I was Speaker and the result was 11 million new jobs in four years.  Today, I have released a 21st Century Contract with America which outlines bold, sweeping reforms based on this same Reagan playbook.  You can pick up a copy of the contract at my booth throughout the conference.

As I have travelled across the country, I ask supporters to be with me, not for me.  America did not become great by relinquishing power to the hands of the elites, but by empowering the American people to dream big ideas and do big things.  Together, we need to unleash the American people to rebuild the America we love.

I hope you make the most of your time at CPAC.  There are great opportunities to network with activists from across the country and within the conservative movement.  Enjoy your time this weekend.

Sincerely,

Newt Gingrich
