Bachmann Won’t Raise Debt Ceiling But Will End Medicare As We Know It

Des Moines – Today, Michele Bachmann began airing an ad in Iowa touting her opposition to the Recovery Act and to raising the debt ceiling.

“Michele Bachmann claims to be concerned about spending, but wasn’t concerned enough to vote against the Ryan plan which would not only increase the debt by nearly $9 trillion over the next decade, but would end Medicare as we know it,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky.  

“While Bachmann is not willing to risk losing the support of the GOP establishment by voting against the Ryan plan, she is more than willing to put our economy at risk by letting the US default on our debt.  If Bachmann really did have a titanium spine as she claims, she would stand up to the GOP litmus tests and attempts to play politics with our national economy.”
