CHANGE IS...

PUTTING AMERICANS BACK to WORK
The President is taking aggressive steps to put Americans back to work, and restore middle-class security for decades to come. For years before the economic crisis, middle-class security had been slipping away. Wages stagnated while health care costs soared. We've added back 2.6 million private sector jobs as of September 2011, but there's more work to do. When President Obama took office, he both addressed the immediate economic crisis and laid the foundation for a U.S. economy that can out-innovate and out-build the world.

REFORMING WALL STREET and PROTECTING CONSUMERS
President Obama passed the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to hold Wall Street accountable and end taxpayer-funded bailouts. Wall Street reform ensures that if a financial company fails, it will be Wall Street that pays the price-not the American people-and sets ground rules for the riskiest financial speculation. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was established to protect consumers from unfair financial practices and make sure that credit card companies and mortgage and payday lenders have to follow the rules.

MAKING COLLEGE more AFFORDABLE
President Obama made college more affordable by doubling funding for Pell Grants, increasing the number of recipients from 6 million in 2008 to 9 million in 2011. This was achieved in part by ending billions of dollars in federal subsidies to banks acting as middlemen in the college loan program.

ENDING THE WAR IN Iraq
President Obama has fulfilled his promise to bring our soldiers home responsibly and safely. More than 100,000 U.S. troops have already come home from Iraq, and the rest will be home by the end of 2011. Our combat mission in Iraq has ended and the Iraqi people have taken responsibility for the security of their country.

REPEALING "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
President Obama believes that America prospers when we're all in it together, and he's expanded opportunity for every American by taking steps to level the playing field so everybody plays by the same rules. President Obama signed the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," allowing gay men and women to serve openly in our armed forces.

DELIVERING affordable HEALTH CARE
President Obama passed the Affordable Care Act to restore health care as a basic cornerstone of middle-class security in America. When fully implemented, the Affordable Care Act will end the worst insurance company abuses—including denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions or cancelling coverage when someone gets sick. The Affordable Care Act makes health care more affordable for families and small businesses and brings much-needed transparency to the insurance industry. Because of the new law, 32 million more Americans will be able to afford insurance for the first time. Ninety-five percent of Americans under age 65 will have insurance.
