Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Committee

Flyer (front and back), 8 1/2" x 11", Dec. 2011, Iowa.

GOALS:
1)  Have a majority control of all the delegates at the State Convention and at the District Convention, allowing us to win all 25 available delegates for the Republican National Convention.
2)  WIN the Iowa Caucus Straw Poll.

HOW TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS:
Turn out as many Ron Paul supporters as possible at each local Precinct Caucus being held on Tuesday, January 3. This will allow us to win the Caucus Straw Poll and elect Ron Paul delegates to the County Convention.

WHAT IS A CAUCUS:
A Caucus is simply a local Republican meeting that takes place in your neighborhood, where voters will gather to vote in the Presidential Straw Poll and elect delegates to attend their County Republican Convention.

Think of it as a social gathering of neighbors in your area, sort of like a local BBQ or fundraiser event.

CAUCUS INFORMATION:
Local Precinct Caucuses will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, January 3. Check-in begins at 5:30pm.

Locations will be posted in your local paper during the two weeks preceding the Caucus, and your Ron Paul County Coordinator will make sure you have this information.

CAUCUS AGENDA:
1)  Pledge of Allegiance
2)  Election of Caucus Chairman (if necessary)
3)  Passing of "Buck Bag"
4)  Non-binding Presidential Straw Poll
5)  Election of Precinct Committee Persons
6)  Nomination of delegates to County Convention
7)  Election of nominated delegates
8)  Nomination of alternate delegates to County Convention (if necessary)
9)  Election of nominated alternate delegates

ELECTION PROCESS:
Delegates are elected by a plurality of votes, meaning the top vote getters win.

Usually, the first person to raise their hands gets to go, so make sure to raise your hands first.

Voting takes place be either voice vote or by paper ballot.

You can even bring unregistered voters with you, and they can register right there at the Caucus, so try to bring as many folks with you to vote for Ron Paul as possible.

ONCE THE CAUCUS ENDS:
Before you leave, try your best to write down the names of the elected delegates, along with their Presidential preference.

Send this information to your Ron Paul County Coordinator, who will then phone it in to the campaign.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE WEEKS AFTER THE CAUCUS?
Delegates elected at the Precinct Caucus will attend a County Convention, where delegates will then be chosen to attend the District and State Republican Conventions.

At each District Convention 3 delegates will be chosen to attend the Republican National Convention, where the Republican nominee will be chosen.

The State Convention will elect Iowa's At-Large Delegates to the National Convention.

You don't need to worry about this now. Just become a delegate at the Precinct Caucus, and the campaign will be there to instruct you on the next steps you need to take.
