-Rick Santorum believes our nation's security must be our foremost
priority. As a U.S. Senator, Rick worked to defend our role as a global
leader in the
fight to preserve democracy and human rights. He has
stood up to foreign dictators, authoring the "Syria
Accountability
Act" and the "Iran Freedom and Support
Act" to impose sanctions on
these rogue nations and
promote democracy around the globe.-Rick recognizes that free market principles are the most effective way to remedy our ailing economy, and that we must reduce the size of government by cutting taxes and keeping our fiscal house in order. While in Congress, Rick Santorum fought to maintain fiscal sanity in a city spiraling toward national bankruptcy, fighting for a balanced budget and a line item veto. He spearheaded the tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 that helped to rebound our economy following the September 11th attacks. -Rick believes that we must protect those who are the most vulnerable. And he's fought tirelessly for those who can't fight for themselves. It was his legislation that outlawed the heinous procedure known as Partial Birth Abortion. He also championed the successful fight to pass the "Born Alive Infants Protection Act," the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act," and the "Combating Autism Act." Rick was also a leader in the effort to pass the landmark 1996 Welfare Reform Act that has empowered millions of Americans to leave the welfare rolls and enter the workforce. -Rick is a Senior Fellow at The Ethics and Public Policy Genter, the Friday host of Bill Bennett's "Morning in America" nationally-syndicated radio program, a contributor on the Fox News Channel and a columnist with The Philadelphia Inquirer. But of all his accomplishments, Rick is most proud of his role as a husband and father. Rick and his wife Karen are the parents of seven wonderful children: Elizabeth, John, Daniel, Sarah, Maria, Peter, Patrick and Isabella. |
