PRESS RELEASE from GOPAC Education Fund

GOPAC Education Fund Aims to Boost Citizen Participation in 2012
Initiates launch of online voter registration effort in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada

April 23, 2012 - Washington, DC - The GOPAC Education Fund today launched its online campaign to register voters in advance of this year's November elections, the first step in the organization's bold voter registration effort this election season.

Beginning with Colorado, Iowa and Nevada, the online campaign at VoterReg.org will appeal to chronically unregistered voters, who are hindered by voter cynicism and apathy, by focusing on their potential to postively impact their community by voting in state and local elections.

"It's important to encourage citizens to participate in elections," said GOPAC Chairman Frank Donatelli. "If we can motivate and engage potential voters who believe in conservative principles at the local level, we have a real opportunity to affect the course of local, state and national government."

Focus groups conducted by the GOPAC Education Fund and The Tarrance Group with unregistered voters in Nevada and Colorado in March revealed that many unregistered voters, frustrated by national politics, can be motivated to register and vote in local elections where they are able to witness a more direct impact on their own lives and community. Based off these findings the GOPAC Education Fund developed the Top 10 Reasons to Vote in the Next Election, messages that will be used to motivate unregistered voters in the newly-launched online voter registration campaign.

VoterReg.org and the online ads launching this week are one method in the GOPAC Education Fund's multi-method approach to get conservative minded citizens to register to vote.  The ads airing in NV, CO, and IA are the first round of a program that will run through the respective voter registration deadlines in each state.
