Pastor Bill Monroe Endorses Newt Gingrich
Florence, SC
– William T. “Bill” Monroe, pastor of the Florence Baptist Temple in
Florence, South Carolina announced his support and endorsement for Newt
Gingrich in the South Carolina Republican Primary on Saturday.
Pastor Monroe said “after meeting with Newt Gingrich, I believe he not
only holds conservative values, but he will fight for them. His broad
knowledge and experience in both foreign and domestic affairs give him
a distinct edge over other conservatives and he is far and away the
best debater which will be a critical factor in the upcoming
Presidential debates. While I like Gov. Perry and Rick Santorum's
conservative views, I believe Newt Gingrich is the only conservative
who can win. I want to give him my unqualified endorsement.”
Dr. Monroe founded the Florence Baptist Temple in November of 1969.
After 38 years, the church has grown to an average attendance of 1,600.
He served two terms as President of the Baptist Bible Fellowship
International and is the author of three books, numerous pamphlets, and
journal articles in internationally published magazines. Bill and his
wife, Norma, have three adult children.
Speaker Gingrich said he “was humbled and blessed by Pastor Monroe’s
support. We look forward to working together to return our
country to
the principles that our nation was founded upon, that we are truly
'endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, that among
these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.' I look
forward
to support from Pastor Monroe and other leaders as we work together to
rebuild the America that we love.”
