Leading Republicans have long supported giving residents of the District of Columbia the democratic rights enjoyed by all other Americans.

DC Vote wants to make sure RNC delegates know that, so Abraham Lincoln will be on hand to make sure delegates get that message out. Honest Abe will be representing DC Vote in Tampa to highlight GOP support for full DC voting rights and educating people about the lack of democracy in Washington, DC. District residents pay federal taxes and they have served and died in wars in the name of democracy, but have no vote in Congress. Congress also has the ultimate say over how locally-raised tax dollars are spent. Some Republicans are working to change this injustice.

While Abe Lincoln’s appearance is all in fun, the disenfranchisement of more than 600,000 people in our nation’s capital is no laughing matter. Americans must unite to bring an end to this stain on our democracy. Abe will be available for interviews starting Tuesday, September 28. To arrange an interview or to capture his interaction with delegates, please call Eugene D. Kinlow, DC Vote Public Affairs Director, at 202-320-7040.
