GOProud Announces Homocon 2012 at the Republican National Convention in Tampa

Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director – “Homocon 2012 will be the must have ticket for the RNC.  Our Special Guests will be a who’s who of the conservative movement.”

(Washington, D.C.) – GOProud – a national organization of gay and straight Americans seeking to promote freedom by supporting free markets, limited government, and a respect for individual rights – announced that they will be holding their annual “Homocon” event at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.  “Homocon 2012 will be the must have ticket for the RNC,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director and Co-Founder of GOProud.  “Our special guests will be a who’s who of the conservative movement.”

GOProud is the only national gay organization that hasendorsed former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s bid for President, and Homocon is the organization’s signature annual event.

Homocon 2012 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday night during the convention – after the evening session ends – at the Honey Pot nightclub in the trendy Ybor City portion of Tampa.  GOProud expects to have close to 1,000 in attendance.

“GOProud has had some great events in the past, but this promises to be the biggest and best yet,” continued LaSalvia.

The organization announced the first of its “Special Guests” for Homocon 2012 and they include:

David Keene, Former Chair of the American Conservative Union and Vice-Chair of CPAC

Mary Matalin, author, CNN contributor and long-time GOP operative

Richard Grenell, former U.S. Spokesman at the United Nations

Amy Kremer, Chair of the Tea Party Express

Dana Loesch, contributor to Breitbart.com, radio host and CNN contributor

Larry O’Connor, Editor of Breitbart.tv and radio host

S.E. Cupp, author and co-host of MSNBC’s “The Cycle”

Will Cain, analyst for The Blaze and CNN contributor

Margaret Hoover, former FOX News contributor, author and current CNN contributor

GOProud will be unveiling additional “Special Guests” over the coming weeks in the lead up to Homocon 2012.

“We learned a valuable lesson from our friend Andrew Breitbart – that the conservative movement couldn’t simply fight on politics and policy and ignore popular culture,” said Christopher R. Barron, GOProud Co-Founder and Chief Strategist.  “Homocon 2012, like our previous events, will be more than just a party.  It is an opportunity to show where the conservative movement is – and where it is going – in regards to the inclusion of gay people.”

“The left would like America to believe that it has a monopoly on gay people, and that only big government policies are good for gay Americans,” continued Barron.  “Worse the left wants America to believe that all conservatives are anti-gay.  Nothing could be further from the truth, the truth is that conservative policies and limited government are better for all Americans – especially gay Americans.  Further, gay conservatives are an important part of the conservativemovement and this event will highlight that.”
