2012 Green National Convention   ...2 of 12 >
July 13, 2012--The first two days of Green Party Convention and National Meeting took place at University of Baltimore.
In 2008 Greens were unable to agree on a platform.  This cycle they adopted their platform in 2010, and considered amendments here.
The Green National Committee, the party's highest decision-making body, met.
There were many workshops.  (Above) David Cobb, national organizer of Move to Amend and the Green Party's 2004 presidential nominee, presented a workshop titled "Abolish Corporate Personhood."
There was also a modest exhibit space.  Frank Atwood, activist from Colorado, explains the advantages of approval voting.  This system would allow voters to vote for more than one candidate; the winner would still be the one who wins the most votes.  It is an interesting idea; Atwood points out that unlike instant runoff voting, a reform proposal in which voters rank their choices, approval voting would not require any changes to the ballot.  (Atwood is actually supporter of Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson).
The two major candidates vying for the nomination are Dr. Jill Stein and Roseanne Barr; Stein had secured enough delegates to win and the word was that Barr would not show up.
Dr. Jill Stein.
