Gov. Huntsman announces South Carolina Finance Team
Columbia, SC - August 25, 2011 - Governor Jon Huntsman today
announced
the initial membership of his South Carolina Finance team.
"I am humbled to have the support of such a fine group of business and
community leaders," said Gov. Huntsman. "Working together, we will
spread our message and vision to voters in South Carolina and across
the nation."
Bill Stern, of Columbia, will serve as honorary Chair of Gov.
Huntsman’s Finance team in South Carolina. Stern is President and CEO
of Stern and Stern Commercial Development. He served on the Graham for
Senate Finance Committee in 2002, as the Sanford for Governor Finance
Committee Chairman in 2006, as the South Carolina Inaugural Committee
Chairman in 2006, and on the McCain 2008 Finance Committee.
Other members include (alphabetically):
Gayle Averyt, of Columbia, is the retired CEO of Colonial Life Insurance and served as Rudy Giuliani's State Finance Co-Chair in 2008.
Matt Devine, of Greenville, is President of DHM Adhesives.
Bob and Tracey Doran, of Charleston, both served on the McMaster for Governor finance committee. Bob is a real estate developer, and Tracey is head of the South Carolina Humanities Council.
Hank Holliday, of Charleston, is a businessman who owns and operates the Planters Inn, Hank's Seafood, Peninsula Grill, Mercato and Charleston's Doubletree Suites.
John S. Rainey, of Camden, is Chairman of Easlan Capital, former Chairman of the South Carolina Public Service Authority, and Chairman of the South Carolina Board of Economic Advisors. He served as Bush Pioneer and Finance Committee in 2000, Bush South Carolina Co-Chair and Pioneer in 2004, Graham for Senate Finance Committee 2002, Co-Chairman DeMint for Senate Finance Team 2004, Co-Chairman of Sanford for Governor Finance Committee 2006, and McCain 2008 Finance Committee.
John Sowards, of Columbia, is Chairman of the Board of Nexsen Pruet.
John B. White, Jr., of Spartanburg, is a member of Harrison, White, Smith & Coggins, P.C. He also served on John McCain's 2008 Finance Committee.
Vivian Wong, of Greenville, is Chairwoman of Pacific Gateway Capital and co-founded the Global Trading Consortium.
Anita Zucker, of Charleston, is CEO of InterTech Group, Past President of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, and a philanthropist.
