Americans for Prosperity
"Wasteful Spending" +
:60 ad run starting April 26, 2012.
[Music] Male Announcer: Washington promised to create American jobs if we passed their stimulus, but that's not what happened.
Fact. Billions of taxpayer dollars spent on green energy went
to jobs in foreign countries. The Obama Administration admitted
the truth that $2.3 billion of tax credits went overseas while millions
of Americans can't find a job.
$1.2 billion to a solar company that's building a plant in
Mexico. Half a billion to an electric car company that created
hundreds of jobs in Finland. And tens of millions of dollars to
build traffic lights in China.
President Obama wasted $34 billion on risky investments.
The result? Failure.
American taxpayers are paying to send their own jobs to foreign
countries.
Tell President Obama American tax dollars should help American
taxpayers.
Notes: AFP held a press conference on April 26 to launch this campaign. According to the release...
The
multi-million dollar ad buy will be supported by rallies and events
taking place over the next several weeks. "This
new TV ad combined with our social media and boots on the ground
approach pulls back the curtain on an important component of our
strategy and focus this year," said AFP President Tim Phillips. "We're
going to be shining a spotlight on something so important, President
Obama himself will be forced to take notice."
Both the Obama campaign and the DNC
responded
with lengthy fact checks.
The
Obama's response include this statement from national presss secretary
Ben LaBolt...
“Secretive
oil
billionaires are making good on their promise to spend hundreds of
millions of dollars on Governor Romney’s behalf attempting to defeat
the President.
After all, Governor Romney has introduced a tax plan which charges
taxpayers $4 billion in year to provide subsidies to oil and gas
companies making record profits, he opposes increased fuel economy
standards that will save consumers thousands of dollars at
the pump, and he supports repealing the reforms the President passed to
prevent manipulation of our oil futures market. While the
President
fights everyday to build an economy where everybody gets a fair shot
and does their fair share, special interests across
the country are mobilizing to buy the election for Governor Romney to
try to promote their interests over the interests of the American
people.”
The DNC response included this statement from Melanie Roussell...
It’s
no surprise why Americans for Prosperity is running another dishonest
ad against the President’s record of supporting clean energy- they are
funded by the oil industry, which opposes the President’s aggressive
all-of-the-above strategy for meeting our energy needs. Contrary to the
ad’s claims President Obama has proposed initiatives that will keep
jobs in America and his investments in clean energy will help Americans
save money at the pump and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Mitt
Romney is big oil’s dream candidate. He has opposed investments in
clean energy and higher fuel economy standards that will save consumers
$8,000 at the pump on the average vehicle. And he has advocated for a
backward-looking drilling alone strategy that wouldn’t allow America to
take control of our energy future.
