Notes:
Response to the Crossroads GPS ad "Depertarse."
According
to
the press release, this ad
"underscor[es] the President’s commitment to the Hispanic
community and setting the record straight. The President’s record is
clear. Under his leadership, we’ve expanded the State Children’s
Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to an additional 4 million children,
including, for the first time ever, legal immigrant children. The
President enacted student loan reform, which provides an additional
150,000 Pell Grants to Hispanic students. And he signed into law
the Recovery Act, which kept 1.9 million Latinos out of poverty in
2009. President Obama has always been and will always be committed to
the Hispanic Community and fighting for their priorities."
Further, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the
following statement:
“The special interest-funded Crossroads is trying to hide
the fact that the Republican Party would end Medicare as we know it to
pay for tax cuts for the very rich. They are trying to hide the
fact that Republicans are supporting a budget plan that would roll back
our economic progress and place additional burdens on seniors and the
middle class. But the Administration’s record is clear. President
Obama has been focused from day one on strengthening economic security
for working and middle class families. That’s why he extended health
insurance to millions of children, expanded financial aid for our youth
and cut taxes for the middle class.
“The Republican Party is offering no new solutions to the
American people- they simply want to double down on the failed policies
that brought our economy to the brink of a depression and hurt millions
of American families, including far too many Latinos. The American
people don’t want more of the failed policies of the Republican Party.
What the country needs is the continued leadership of President Obama,
who is focused like a laser on creating jobs and moving our country
forward.”
