:30 ad run in Iowa starting Aug. 1, 2011. Politico
reported $40,000 for two weeks of advertising on FOX.
[Music] Male Announcer: What if we
had a candidate for president with a real record of creating
jobs?
A conservative with proven leadership in tough times.
The leader of a state that created more jobs in the past 2 years than the other 49 states combined with no state income tax and no deficit.
A decade of balanced budgets.
What if we had a better option for president?
We do. Rick Perry.
Jobs for Iowa is responsible for the content of this advertising.
Notes: This is an
independent expenditure-only political committee (super PAC) ad in
promoting Gov. Rick Perry; it was
one of several efforts promoting Perry in
advance of the Ames Straw Poll when he was seen as likely to run, but
had not yet made clear his intentions.
Politico noted that in addition to Jobs for Iowa, two other
super PACs were formed: Jobs for South Carolina and Jobs for Florida.
Stephen Colbert's Super
PAC produced a couple of take-off parody ads from Americans for a
Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. "Behind the Green Corn" and "Episode IV: A
New Hope" urged viewers to write in Rick Parry "with an A for America,
with an A for Iowa."
