"Tell Mitt Romney: Kittens Are Cute. 1% Fat Cats? Not So Much."
+
:30 ad run April 16, 2012 on "Animal Planet" during cat themed shows.
[Music] Male Announcer: President
Obama's Buffett Rule would require millionaires and billionaires to pay
the same tax rate as the rest of us.
The Romney Rule let's fat cats rig the system, so they pay less and
pass on the burden to hard-working Americans like you and me.
When the wealthiest 1-percent pay a fair tax rate like the rest of
us, it keeps the America Dream alive for everyone.
So tell Mitt Romney, kittens are cute. 1% fat cats who won't pay their fair share? Eh, not so much.

Just in time for Tax Day, MoveOn.org released a new animated 30-second
TV ad playing off of the Lolcats meme that challenges Mitt Romney’s
opposition to the Buffett Rule and calls him out for letting “fat cats
rig the system.”
The TV ad, which literally features cats—with some sitting
together in the same basket but with other fat cats hoarding cash for
themselves—will run on kitty-themed shows on Animal Planet. It
advocates for the Buffett Rule, a proposal designed to ensure
millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share of taxes.
The 30-second TV ad will air during a variety of cat themed shows,
including: Big Cat Diary, My Cat From Hell, Cats 101, and Too Cute
Kittens. It is being released to coincide with Tax Day and a U.S.
Senate vote on the Buffett Rule, which, according to a Gallup survey
released Friday, most Americans support. It is part of MoveOn’s
ongoing campaign to make the top 1% pay their fair share in taxes so
America can afford to create jobs and maintain vital programs which
support the 99%.

The ad features “fat cats” showered in money outside a mansion, on a
private jet, swimming in money, and tipping the scales of tax fairness
opposite an entire litter of kittens who just want fairness. The
voiceover informs viewers that: “President Obama’s Buffett Rule would
require millionaires and billionaires to pay the same tax rate as the
rest of us. The Romney Rule lets fat cats rig the system, so they pay
less and pass on the burden to hardworking Americans like you and me.”
The voice-over ends with: “When the wealthiest 1% pay a fair tax rate
like the rest of us, it keeps the American Dream alive for everyone. So
tell Mitt Romney, kittens are cute. 1% fat cats who won’t pay their
fair share? Eh, not so much.”
“Americans who have been playing by the rules are losing
because fat cats like Mitt Romney are playing by a completely different
rulebook,” said Justin Ruben, Executive Director of MoveOn.org.
“President Obama’s Buffett Rule is a basic first step towards asking
fat cat millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share like the
rest of us kitties.”
