Campaign for America’s Future Exposes New Stories about Life Under Governor Romney
MassKnowsMitt.com Reveals Tales from the Romney Years

Washington, DC -- No one knows Mitt Romney like the people of Massachusetts. There is a reason he's down 20 points in his home state. The Campaign for America’s Future created a new website called Mass Knows Mitt (massknowsmitt.com) to give Massachusetts residents a chance to tell the rest of us what it was like to have Mitt Romney as governor. We are collecting stories about how Mitt Romney’s policies hurt real people: about bait-and-switch education reform, about tax cuts offset several times over by fee increases and about disappearing bonuses for first responders. We also heard from the support staff of Bain Capital about a $25,000 statue that was a gift from Bain to Gov. Romney.

Here is a sample of a few of the hundreds of stories that have been posted on MassKnowsMitt.com:

“While working at Bain Capital from 2002 to 2003 as support staff, my colleagues and I were instructed to deliver a statue appraised for $25,000 as a gift to Governor Romney from his partners at Bain Capital. In 2002, I saw a fax from the New York Fed Chairman inviting one of Mr. Romney’s chief deputies at Bain to lunch to discuss ways to shape the direction of the economy.”
- Bobbi from Cambridge

“I will not be voting for Mitt Romney because of his despicable betrayal of same-sex couples and their families in Massachusetts.”
- Cara from Framingham

“I was told by someone that worked for him was the elevator in the State House. He decided it was going to be his. So no one was allowed to use it, and I mean NO ONE except him and everyone else had to use the stairs.”
- Ruth from Acushnet

“Romney emptied the State Rainy Day Fund -- used to keep the state economy stable during hard times -- in order to give tax breaks to the wealthy. … Our fees (i.e.: auto license, dog license, business permits, etc) doubled, while teachers, police and fire-fighters were laid-off.”
- Roger of Haverhill
