NEW YORK ― AUGUST 8, 2012 ― NBC
News,
a leading source of global news and information, and TV
One, which entertains, informs and inspires Black adult
viewers, are partnering to provide coverage of the 2012 presidential
election with a unique perspective to best serve the needs of Black
viewers. This special coverage will include the final night of both the
Republication National Convention and the Democratic National
Convention, as well as the night of the presidential election. All
three nights of coverage will be branded under the TV One:
One Vote Matters banner. This agreement marks the first
joint effort between the two organizations, as well as TV One’s
premiere offering of national convention coverage. The joint
announcement was made today by TV One President and CEO Wonya Lucas and
NBC News President Steve Capus.
As part of the partnership, TV One will air a four-hour broadcast on
the final evening of the Republican (8:00pm-12:00am / ET, Thursday,
August 30th) and Democratic (8:00pm-12:00am / ET, Thursday,
September 6th) conventions featuring TV One correspondents
and veteran political reporters from NBC News and theGrio (www.TheGrio.com), NBC News’
video-centric news site devoted to stories and perspectives that appeal
to the African-American community. NBC News’ Craig Melvin will anchor
all three evenings of coverage from NBC’s Washington, DC studios and TV
One’s Washington Watch host Roland Martin will round out
coverage with contributing segments and analysis.
Said Lucas, “By partnering with NBC News, TV One is keeping to its
mission of continuing to raise the bar for the network by providing our
viewers with programming that is informative and has a direct impact on
their lives as well as those of their families.”

African-American community during this important election season—
extending the reach of our journalism while tapping into TV One’s loyal
viewership,” said Capus.
TV One’s convention coverage will include appearances by noted
panelists speaking on the key issues, “Best of” moments, LIVE airings
of candidate speeches, along with follow-up analysis of how the
candidates fared.
TV One’s 2012 presidential election coverage will conclude with LIVE
coverage on election night Tuesday, November 6 which begins at 7:00pm /
ET and will include the victory speech of the newly elected President
of the United States of America.
