Friends of Roy
Moore (exploratory committee)

Why I am forming an Exploratory
Committee.
Today our Country is in a moral, economic, and Constitutional crisis
which
threatens our future and that of our children and grandchildren.
Basic
institutions of family, faith, and freedom are under assault, and our
leadership is divided by petty party politics and a special interest
agenda. People are tired of politicians who say one thing running
for
office and then do something else once elected! They deserve
leaders
dedicated to principle - not the power of incumbency.
Kayla and I have been married for over 25 years and are the proud
parents of
four children and three grandchildren. As a husband, father, and
grandfather, I am concerned about the destruction of the family and
marriage,
which was defined as the union for life of one man and one woman in the
holy
estate of matrimony by the United States Supreme Court in
1885. I
support the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) passed by Congress in
1996. I
also believe in the right to life for all persons to include the most
innocent
within the womb, the unborn child.
The American people want and deserve jobs and the return of
manufacturing to
our land, a return to a time when "Made in America" really meant
something. Unfair free trade agreements have resulted in an
imbalance of
trade and a weakened economy. Government bureaucracy, increasing
taxation, and wasteful spending must be stopped, and a viable
alternative to
our present tax system must be explored. Both the flat tax and
the fair tax
offer significant advantages to our current tax system.
Our Constitution is the best form of government ever envisioned by
man.
Separation of powers between the branches of government, and checks and
balances prevent the accumulation of power in any one branch of federal
government, and those powers given the federal government were
specifically
enumerated. Most powers were left to the states. Federal
government
is out of control! I believe we need to return to a smaller
federal
government
and increased right of states to govern its citizens. I would
support the
10th Amendment and encourage competition between the states in
education,
health care, and other matters which concern the health, safety, and
welfare of
its citizens. Competition and a free enterprise system will solve
many
problems which exist in our country.
As a former prosecuting attorney, Judge, and Chief Justice of the
Alabama
Supreme Court, I am acutely aware of the blatant disregard for the
United
States Constitution by some courts and judges, who rule more by their
feelings
and opinions than by the law they are sworn to uphold. As
President, I
will make an informed judgment on appointments to the federal courts
and the
United States Supreme Court, upon which the rights and freedoms we
enjoy, such
as our freedom of religious worship and the right to keep and bear
arms, so
often depend.
I am a graduate of West Point and former commander of a military police
company
in Vietnam
during the war. The slow and certain deterioration of our
military, and
its use around the world as a police power without approval of the U.
S.
Congress, as provided by the Constitution, is concerning to me.
All the
while our own borders remain open and unsecured, against the law.
Having
served as a military officer in Europe, Southeast Asia, and throughout
the
continental United States,
I understand the need for a strong military defense. I believe
that
homosexuality is incompatible with the military mission and will only
serve to
further weaken our defense capability. As President and Commander
in
Chief, I would be more than able to lead the Armed Forces of our
country.
Why do I seek the office of President of the United States of
America?
Because I believe in America
and in the American people. We can again be ONE NATION UNDER GOD
with
liberty and justice for all and bring a real, positive change to our
government. Together, we shall become as former President Ronald
Reagan
so often remarked, a "shining city on a hill."
