Travels of President Barack Obama—August 2012

President Barack Obama  First Lady Michelle Obama  |  Vice President Joe Biden  ||  Former Gov. Mitt Romney

The highlight of the month was the three-day bus across Iowa; travelling from West to East on "Ground Force One," President Obama delivered seven speeches and made many OTR stops.  Towards the end of the month, coinciding with the Republican Convention, Obama did a college tour with stops in Ames, IA, Fort Collins, CO, and Charlottesville, VA.  Overall, in terms of visits to battleground states, Obama made two trips each to CO (Aug. 8-9 and Aug. 28), IA (Aug. 13-15 and Aug. 28), OH (Aug. 1 and Aug. 21) and VA (Aug. 2 and Aug. 29) and trips to FL (Aug. 2), NH (Aug. 18) and NV (Aug. 21-22).  There seemed to be fewer fundraising events, but Obama seemed to be getting more involved in the nitty-gritty of the campaign; on Aug. 11 he made a stop at campaign headquarters in Chicago, and on Aug. 16 and 23 he made visits to DNC headquarters.
