Chairman Israel Announces Expanded & New DCCC Leadership Roles

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel announced today an expanded leadership role for Representative Allyson Schwartz and the chairs of the DCCC’s two election programs, the Frontline and Red to Blue programs.

Representative Allyson Schwartz, who began the cycle as the National Recruiting Chair, has been named the National Chair for Recruiting and Candidate Services.  Representative Jim Himes will chair the Frontline Program and Representatives Donna Edwards and Jared Polis will chair the Red to Blue Program.

“The DCCC has the best, most aggressive leadership team in the business.  Representatives Allyson Schwartz, Jim Himes, Donna Edwards and Jared Polis perfect combination of drive, experience, political know-how and leadership savvy to make this the shortest Republican majority in history,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel.  “I’m thrilled they will be working with us this cycle to ensure Democratic Members and candidates have the tools and resources they need to win.”

Israel will soon be announcing the chairs of Women LEAD and the chairs of the DCCC’s Councils.

Allyson Schwartz, National Chair for Recruiting and Candidate Services

After an impressive start to 2012 recruiting, Schwartz’s responsibilities are expanding to include both identifying and recruiting top notch candidates, and also making sure that our candidates are well prepared for an aggressive 2012 campaign.  Previously, Schwartz has chaired Red-to-Blue (2010), Women LEAD (2008, 2010), and served on the recruiting committee (2010).

Jim Himes, Frontline Program Chair

Representative Jim Himes will chair the DCCC’s successful Frontline Program, in addition to his duties as co-chair of the Business Council.  Representative Himes was a Member of the Frontline Program last cycle and understands what it takes for an incumbent to win a challenging district in a difficult political environment.

Representative Donna Edwards, Red to Blue Program Chair

Representative Donna Edwards will chair the DCCC’s successful Red to Blue Program, in addition to her duties on the recruiting committee.  Edwards served on the 2010 recruiting committees (2010) and has worked with Democratic Members and candidates on their progressive outreach and fundraising plans.

Representative Jared Polis, Red to Blue Program Chair

Representative Jared Polis will chair the DCCC's successful Red to Blue Program, in addition to his duties on the recruiting committee. Polis has worked with the DCCC and Democratic Members and candidates on their technology as well as LGBT outreach and fundraising plans.

Background on the Frontline and Red to Blue Programs

The Frontline Program is a partnership between the DCCC and incumbent Members to lay the ground work for the 2012 elections by supporting and expanding Members’ fundraising and outreach operations. This competitive program requires Members to meet aggressive fundraising goals, accelerate volunteer and recruitment efforts, and increase on-line networking.

The Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country and, in partnership with candidates, offers campaigns financial, communications, and strategic support.  The program will introduce Democratic supporters to new, competitive candidates in order to help expand the fundraising base for these campaigns.
