RNC CHAIRMAN REINCE PRIEBUS APPOINTS AMBASSADOR RON WEISER AS NATIONAL FINANCE CHAIRMAN

WASHINGTON –Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus has appointed Ambassador Ron Weiser as RNC National Finance Chairman:

“It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Ambassador Ron Weiser as RNC National Finance Chairman,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Ron has done an excellent job helping lead the transition and as a result the Committee is off to a great start. Ron brings a wealth of experience to the RNC as a fundraiser and has been instrumental in helping restore trust with our major donors. Over the years, Ambassador Weiser has helped bring countless millions of dollars in the door for Republican candidates, and I believe he is the ideal choice to lead our fundraising efforts as we prepare to counter Barack Obama’s billion dollar campaign.”

Gov. Rick Snyder (R-MI) joined Chairman Priebus in applauding the appointment.

“Ron Weiser is a fundraising force unlike anything I have ever seen,” said Gov. Snyder. “He shattered every fundraising record ever set in Michigan, and last year he led the team that made it possible for Michigan Republicans to celebrate the largest wins in over 60 years.  I have no doubt that Ron will take that same tenacity to Washington and will work tirelessly to ensure the RNC is in a position to help Republicans win back the White House in 2012.”

Ambassador Weiser’s appointment also garnered high praise from major Republican fundraisers.

“I can't think of a better selection for Finance Chairman than Ambassador Weiser,” said Mel Sembler, a prominent GOP fundraiser and Co-Chairman of the RNC Finance Transition Team.  “He has been tremendously successful in his business career, in every fundraising effort he has undertaken, and just completed a very successful tenure as Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party.  Rest assured Ron’s steady hand and fundraising prowess will pay dividends for the RNC so it can help make Barack Obama a one-term president.”

Al Hoffman, another top-flight Republican fundraiser and Co-Chairman of the RNC Finance Transition Team added, “He is one of the most doggedly determined folks in politics I know.  He has the hustle, desire, and commitment necessary to get the job done.”

A dedicated public servant and successful businessman, Ambassador Weiser has served his country, state, and community with distinction for much of his adult life. In 2001 Ambassador Weiser was appointed by President Bush as Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. Ambassador Weiser has a long and distinguished record fundraising on behalf of Republican candidates. During the 1994 Republican Revolution, he served on the campaign committees of two successful statewide candidates, Michigan Governor John Engler and Michigan Senator Spencer Abraham. From 1996-2000, Ambassador Weiser served as the Team Michigan Chair for the Michigan Republican Party. In addition to chairing numerous political and judicial campaigns in Michigan, Ambassador Weiser served as George W. Bush’s Michigan Finance Chair from 1999-2000 and his National Co-Chair of Victory in 2000, and as John McCain’s National Co-Chairman from 2006-2008. From 2009-2010 Ambassador Weiser served as Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party leading Michigan Republicans to their largest election sweep in more than 60 years which included winning all statewide offices, control of the Supreme Court and both chambers of the Legislature, and adding 2 U.S. House seats.  In February, 2011 he was appointed by Chairman Priebus as Co-Chair of the RNC’s National Finance Transition Committee.
