*Elmers' opponent, Rep. Bob Etheridge (D), conceded later on this day, after a recount put her ahead by about 1,500 votes.
Most of the newly elected women House members line up for a photo.  Left to right are Terri Sewell (D-AL), Renee Elmers (R-NC), Nan Hayworth (R-NY), Kristi Noem (R-SD), Jaime Hererra (R-WA), Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY)*, Frederica Wilson (D-FL), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Sandy Adams (R-FL), Diane Black (R-TN), and Karen Bass (D-CA).  Missing are Martha Roby (R-AL) and Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI).

*The race in NY-25 has not been definitively settled.  Buerkle leads Rep. Dan Maffei (D) by 303 votes at the latest count; absentee votes remain to be counted.
Rep. Tim Scott (SC-1) is one of two black Republicans elected to Congress (the other is Rep. Alan West (FL-22)).  Scott, owner of Tim Scott Allstate, was elected to the South Carolina House in 2008 after serving 13 years on the Charleston City Council.  The last African-American Republican to serve in Congress was Rep. J.C. Watts (OK-4), who finished four terms in Jan. 2003.
