POSTING from the Ohio Republican Party website

We've Got a Brand New Look!

You might have noticed that our site not only has a new look but it also features a new logo. Companies often change their "brand" to refresh a tired image or convey a more contemporary theme.  Sometimes the changes are subtle, and sometimes they convey a whole new look.

For several decades, we’ve used a simple image of the traditional red, white, and blue Republican elephant inside an outline of the state of Ohio.

As we contemplated the redesign of our website, we decided the old logo had become a little stale.

We wanted a new image that projects several themes important to today’s Ohio Republican Party – forward-thinking, cutting-edge, confident – centered around the concept of “Leading Ohio,” the 10-point framework laid out by Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine for leading our party's conservative resurgence.  We settled on this:

The logo incorporates the elephant as the traditional, enduring image of the Republican Party, but does so in a fresh, new way.  The elephant is designed to look bold, youthful and determined, with an ear that resembles the state of Ohio.  The state is leaning slightly to the right, and the elephant is “leading Ohio” to the right.

The elephant’s trunk is also down in a charging and determined posture.  Elephant experts note that, “generally speaking, if an elephant is charging with its trunk stretched outwards then it is bluffing. But, if its trunk is tucked down then it means business.”  The belief that an elephant’s trunk must be up for good luck is largely an American superstition.

The logo and site design colors are intended to be visually warmer, while keeping the state of Ohio and other elements a deeper shade of red – the color often used by the media to identify Republican states on a political map.

We hope you like the new logo and the image it conveys about our party, but the real "brand" of the GOP is found not only in our candidates but also in the everyday people, from all walks of life, who proudly call themselves Republicans.  YOU are the true face of the Republican Party, and we hope the bold and determined image we've tried to capture here portrays our mutual desire to boldly lead Ohio to a new day.

Thanks for visiting our new website.  I hope you'll check back often.
