Aug. 4, 2010--At the Heritage
Foundation, Sen. John Thune (R-SD) (above introduced by Heritage
Foundation President Ed Feulner) discussed his proposal to reform the
budget process. Thune said Congress must "address the culture of
spending." Under Thune's plan a new permanent Joint Committee of
Congress on Deficit Reduction would be established. Thune called for a
biennial budget, reform of the paygo rules, and a line item veto as
well as discretionary spending caps. He said there is "no greater
threat than this runaway spending and this runaway debt." (press release) |
