Herman Cain Addresses (and Sings at) the National Press Club ...4 of 4 > |
Oct. 31, 2011--At one point,
Cain asked senior advisor Rich Lowrie to respond to a question on a
specific aspect of 9-9-9. |
Chief of staff Mark Block is
something of a celebrity as a result of his appearance in the "Now is the time for
action!" web video. Cain vice president of communications and
foreign policy and security advisor J.D. Gordon was also at the head
table. |
After the speech a crowd of
reporters, autograph seekers and others milled around in the lobby in
hopes that Cain would come by. |
In sum, it was a busy day for
Herman Cain. He was focused, humorous, gracious and engaging
while continuing to advance his
message. It remains to be seen what the effect of the potentially
crippling
accusations made against him will be. Cain's website showed this
response: Inside
the Beltway media attacks Cain
Fearing the message of Herman Cain who is shaking up the political landscape in Washington, Inside the Beltway media have begun to launch unsubstantiated personal attacks on Cain. Dredging up thinly sourced allegations stemming from Mr. Cain's tenure as the Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, political trade press are now casting aspersions on his character and spreading rumors that never stood up to the facts. Since Washington establishment critics haven't had much luck in attacking Mr. Cain's ideas to fix a bad economy and create jobs, they are trying to attack him in any way they can. Sadly, we've seen this movie played out before - a prominent Conservative targeted by liberals simply because they disagree with his politics. Mr. Cain -- and all Americans, deserve better. |
