Obama Campaign Opens Office in Alexandria, Virginia   ...3 of 3 >
May 12, 2012--Congressman Jim Moran, Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman Brian Moran, and former (and future?) gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe compare notes as deputy field director Brian Gill makes introductory remarks.
"Alexandria will deliver Virginia for Barack Obama," declared DPV chairman Brian Moran.  "The people will deliver this election, not the money of corporations," Moran said.
"We win this, we win the White House," said Terry McAuliffe.
Congressman Jim Moran declared, "We know what's at stake."  He cited House Republicans' passage Thursday of a reconciliation bill which would cut food stamps and other domestic programs "to preserve the tax cuts in the Ryan Republican Tea Party budget."  Wwe're in this together," Moran said.  "That's a deep, fundamental conviction of the Democratic Party and of President Obama."
Among those in the crowd were several candidates including Maureen Markham, who is running to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, and Melissa Feld, who is running in the June 12 Democratic primary for Alexandria City Council.
Debra Cohen, the field organizer in charge of the office, received the keys about three weeks ago, and worked hard to ensure a smooth opening.
